The Power of One : Part Two

The other day, I was driving home from errands and I had a few thoughts I wanted to share, but also the usual “Does anyone really care what’s in my head or am I just writing to clarify my thoughts? Maybe it’s not worth the effort.” Because, opposition is relentless.

Then I walked in the door and sitting on the table was a card from a dear friend of mine. She is also a former AF wife turned airline wife. She has two beautiful daughters, one who is brilliant and amazing and was valedictorian when she and my daughter went to high school, and then she went to a crazy hard school and married a truly fantastic guy and got a crazy hard degree and is amazing and is a new mom. The other daughter is autistic and brilliant in her own way. She sings almost nonstop and loves to travel and is an angel. But she will require full time care, for her entire life. Patti, my friend, is also a recent breast cancer survivor and beautiful and amazing and mothers and sponsors cadets from the AF Academy near their home.

All of that is just to say that I was extremely humbled and touched when I opened her card and read that SHE thought I was amazing and she didn’t know how I dealt with my trials. That she loved reading my blog because she likes that I’m real and silly and crazy. (Plus, she sent me a Target gift card. She really loves me. ❤️)

That one act of kindness was an answer to a prayer I didn’t know I was saying. So, thank you, my dear friend. You were using your Power of one. I love you and I don’t know how YOU do it! Maybe as we all help each other see how we do it, we can realize we DON’T do it alone. We have God AND each other. And just one person doing one small thing on one day can make all the difference. ❤️
